Book Thirteen – Togo the Incredible Dog

$ 9.99$ 22.99

In 1925 a diphtheria epidemic broke out in the isolated Nome, Alaska.  The community’s children were at risk unless a lifesaving serum could be delivered in time.  Many dog sled teams took part in the run to deliver the needed medication.  One dog named TOGO stood out from the others largely because he was the leader of the team that ran the farthest and most difficult section. What was so amazing about TOGO was that he had spent the first five or six years of his life being rejected as a sled dog due to his feisty and independent attitude.  His trainer Leonhard Seppata did not want to give TOGO a chance.  Eventually he did though and TOGO became one of the greatest sled dogs in American history.  This is a fun rhyming children’s book that reminds children of all ages that they should never give up.  The art was painted by the amazing Alaskan artist Lesa Sears.
