Mariana Meets President Lincoln is the first in the “Wayback” series of books written by Roger Carlson. In each book, Mariana is an adventurous little girl who embarks on escapades involving history and events of the distant past.

In this adventure, Mariana finds herself transported to 1861 when Abraham Lincoln was the President of the United States.  Mariana becomes acquainted with the Lincoln children and the Taft children.  The children join together in enthusiasm and sense of justice to complete a self-imposed, risky venture within a limited time span.  The Lincoln and Taft children must make it to the White House in time for Thanksgiving dinner.  Mariana must make it to the portal before it closes in order to return to the 21st Century.

This book is a suspense-filled story of six children who set out on a secret mission.  It takes planning, courage and cooperation for them to accomplish their goal before time runs out.
